Oakland Village is a complex in the heart of South Derbyshire which caters for the needs of people aged over 55 and offers purpose-built accommodation in purchased, shared-ownership or rented apartments. The scheme is located in Swadlincote town centre offering a range of local amenities, including the surrounding National Forest and combines independent living with a real sense of community.
This extra care scheme aims to help people live their lives to the full, enjoying healthy, active, and independent lifestyles into their later years; we encourage social and active participation amongst all age groups within the local neighbourhood. Oakland Village offers opportunities to access regular activities, stay fit, healthy and feeling young. The scheme has a comprehensive range of facilities which people can get involved in as little or as much as they choose. Oakland Village has many interest groups including its own garden club, hobby craft club, film club, library/book club that are open and accessible to all.
Oakland Village provides added assurances through hi-tech security measures, staff call system, secure entrance, CCTV and 24 hour staffing.
Care and support on site is offered in partnership with Derbyshire County Council. Trident Reach the People Charity provides housing-related support through the Community Support Workers based at Oakland Village.
Housing related support aims to help residents to retain as much independence as possible and support is provided through our person centred support package involving other agencies to support and maintain independence. Derbyshire County Council offer domiciliary care 24/7, which is also based on site at Oakland Village.
Should longer term needs be required, a flexible care and support package can be arranged through the resident social worker, who will help to identify the kind of support that is required.
The Village has amenities that include a bar, bistro and restaurant and function rooms which are open to the public. We have a small Village Shop at Oakland which is run mainly by volunteers who live at Oakland Village.
Our Residents Representative Group are actively engaged in the development and running of Oakland Village and we continue to enjoy and develop strong links with the community and local organisations that brings together different ages and interests to create a true feeling of village life.
